Road Tripping From Sydney to Gold Coast
If you’re looking for a place to have some fun, taking a trip to the Gold Coast might be one of your premier choices. There’s no better way to travel than by car, it gives you all the personal freedom to explore everything along the way. Fortunately, there’s quite a bit to see on the road to the Gold Coast.
-
Port Stephens
If you’re heading down the M1, after two hours or so you’ll run into the wonderful Port Stephens. It’s a glorious bay that’s twice as large as Sydney’s own and it boasts its own set of attractions. It sports twenty-six beaches and marine life that will leave you wanting to be a biologist.
It’s known for being the dolphin capital of Australia. There are at least a hundred and sixty different species of a dolphin at Port Stephens and you can see all of them if you decide to take a marine cruise.
-
Myall Lakes
There’s no stopping with beautiful waterfronts on this trip. After another hour on the road, you will encounter the gorgeous Myall Lakes. They aren’t as full of tourist attractions as Port Stephens, which make them ideal for those who want to enjoy nature with some peace and quiet.
You can go for a leisurely swim in many of the lake’s locations. If you don’t like dipping your toes in cold water, kayaking is a great alternative! You’ll run into wallabies, kangaroos, and a lot more interesting fauna near its shores.
-
Port Macquarie
Port Macquarie, or as it’s known to the locals as “Port”, is a buzzing town full of scenic beachfront. It’s great for having lunch by the sea and enjoying a beautiful blue view.
If you are inclined, you can visit the local Koala hospital. It’s a pretty unique medical facility which specializes in the iconic marsupials. Take another dose of koala fun at the Hello Koalas Sculpture Trail, which will lead you along a path full of koala bears.
-
Surfers Paradise
When you finally reach the Gold Coast, you’ll see that the fun part of the trip has only just begun! At the heart of the Gold Coast, you’ll find Surfers Paradise. The name isn’t at all coincidental. You can enjoy a wide variety of beautiful beaches full of waves that accommodate beginner and intermediate surfers.
You could celebrate your arrival with a swim, too. This can give you time to figure out which of the many Gold Coast theme parks you plan to visit. Sea World and Warner Brothers are considered the most popular, but Movie World might be up your alley if you consider yourself a cinephile.
-
Byron Bay
Not too far away from the Golden Coast, you’ll find Byron Bay. It’s a very popular retreat which offers an abundance of artistic attractions. In fact, it would be wise to get your accommodations in advance because the hotels are usually booked during the high season.
It’s no wonder that it’s so packed, considering the abundance of surfing locations and shopping malls that you can find there. Whatever kind of fun you might enjoy, Byron Bay has got you covered.
-
Keep your car road-trip ready
Wherever you choose to go, you’re going to need a road ready car. It might do the job just fine when you’re making your way to work or the gym, but on shorter trips, it gets time to cool off. A road trip can be quite stressful for a car, especially if it’s an older model. If something fails during your daily commute, it’s not a big deal. If it happens in the middle of nowhere, you might be in trouble.
Instead of checking every single aspect of your car on your own, you should consider doing some mobile car detailing before a road trip. You’re already in a rush to get ready for the trip and this would save you quite a bit of time. You don’t have to worry about missing a detail or two, either.
-
Check your insurance
Before you head out, you should always check your car insurance. Being out there on the open road can be dangerous. You are going much faster than you usually would and lights are relatively scarce at night. Accidents happen and it’s good to be prepared for the worst.
Check your insurance provider to see if you are covered for the various issues that could happen on a road trip.
Alternatively, you can make your trip so much easier by hiring a vehicle with Gold Coast Car Hire with affordable rates to suit everyone.
You can’t go wrong with a road trip. Especially when you’re headed to the Gold Coast. If you take the time to prepare your car and travel plans, you’ll end up having the time of your life on this trip. There’s enough fun to go around for you and your family or friends.
