Australia Day Hotspots commemorates the arrival of the First Fleet of 11 convict ships from Great Britain on January 26, 1788. But it’s grown to be much more than that. On Australia Day we celebrate all the things we love about Australia: our beautiful land, our amazing beaches, our iconic flora and fauna, our democratic freedom, but particularly our people.
On Australia Day, most Aussie’s celebrate with BBQs, lamingtons (iconic Australian food), beach cricket, family and friends, green and gold, and of course- yay – public holiday!

Australia Day Celebrations at Broadwater Parklands
Be part of the festivities at the Gold Coast’s 2019 Australia Day Celebrations on 26 January at Broadwater Parklands, Southport. Headlined by Mason Rack Band, the winners of the Gold Coast Music Award’s 2018 Best Live Act, and supported by an impressive line-up of local talent.
This FREE event kicks off at 4pm and concludes at 8pm with a spectacular fireworks display set to rival New Year’s Eve events.
Support our drought-stricken farmers – don’t forget to head to the Rural Aid Australia stand and donate a gold coin or purchase merchandise.So pack your picnic rug and gather your family and friends for a wonderful afternoon of food, fun, and fireworks; the only place to be on Australia Day is the Broadwater Parklands.

Australia Day Pool Party
No matter which way you look at the Australia Day on the Gold Coast is going to be a hot one. Cool your jets at the Gold Coast Aquatic Centre and its pool party. Open from 6am, make sure you’re in the doors by 11am for the big party, finishing at 2pm. There will be dive demonstrations, races, inflatables, music, entertainment, competitions and that classic thong throw.

Aussie Celebration on the Star Lawn
From 14-28 January 2019, the Star casino is celebrating everything that makes Australia great. Come and enjoy their pop-up kitchen, craft beer, live Australian music, entertainment and more. Plus, superstar DJ Brooke Evers will be playing from 5pm-8pm on 26 January. DJ Apollo Jackson will kick off Sunday on The Lawn from 1.30pm-4.30pm.

Australia Day Bash
Grab your mates and celebrate Australia Day at NightQuarter on January 26 with a barbecue, and beers. Expect to see Aussie activities such as cockroach races, thing throwing, dunny roll throwing, lamington eating, sausage sizzle competitions!
Classic Aussie rock cover band Prime Ministers of Australia will be showcasing the greatest hits from Australia’s best loved artists. In an energetic and entertaining live show in The Paddock! There will be plenty of fun to entertain the ankle biters with dance parties, egg and spoon races! They can even explore the markets to discover native wildlife traditional treats and Australian culture on an Aussie treasure hunt.
